Any questions? Please contact us and we’d be glad to assist you. What is MOPS?MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, a program designed for mothers with children under school age. MOPS meets the needs of every mom – urban and suburban moms, stay-at-home moms and working moms, teen, single, married moms – moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS isn’t a new concept. MOPS began in 1973 when a Life Group of moms met in a local church near Denver to share their common needs. Today, approximately 2800 groups meet in churches throughout the United States, Canada and 13 other countries, reaching over 104,000 women and their families. Mothers of preschoolers lead MOPS groups, so they have the chance to develop their leadership skills through experience and excellent training opportunities. Our Mothers of Preschoolers ministry (MOPS) started over 6 years ago here at First Christian Church. We became a chartered MOPS group through MOPS International and we meet once a month September through May. How can MOPS help moms?MOPS encourages moms through resources, such as books, the MOPS International Web site, and MOMSense radio and magazine. MOPS also helps mom through relationship, established in the context of MOPS groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today’s others of young children. In a MOPS group, a mom has an opportunity to share concerns, explore areas of creativity, and hear instruction from a MOPS Mentor that equips her for the responsibilities of family and community. The MOPS group also includes MOPPETS, a loving, learning experience for children. What are MOPPETS?
